The original Sharps rifle, patented in 1848 by Christian Sharps, was loaded with a linen cartridge and percussion primer. The sturdy action of Sharps rifles made them faster and easier to load than conventional muzzleloaders. In 1859, the U.S. Navy placed the first military order for 900 of the single shot rifles. That same year, John Brown’s raiders carried Sharps carbines at Harper’s Ferry. And when the Civil War began, carbine versions were ordered for the cavalry.
After the war, the American Rifle Team used Sharps rifles, adapted to fire metallic cartridges, to win the first international long-range rifle match. In 1874, after 700 Comanche warriors attacked 30 buffalo hunters in the Texas panhandle, the hunters used their Sharps rifles to exact a punishing toll. By the early 1880s, the long-range models had become the favorites of professional buffalo hunters because of their long-range capability.
Chambered in classic .45-70, all 1874 Sharps-replica Uberti rifles are true to the originals. The hand-engraved Sharps Extra Deluxe, previously available only through select World Class Collectionâ„¢ dealers, is now available through all Uberti dealers.

I own one for approx six years one of there first produced

I had to order the rifle from my local Gun store adventure sports Seattle WA. When it arrived I was notified and picked it up along with three boxes of cowboy 405 gr lead loads. Went to the range after cleaning the barrel I sat down next a shooting bench and started a one hundred yard sight in. It took no time at all to do groups that where hitting the x ring. I then took a fresh target out to 200 yards and tested my luck. It only 4 rounds to start grouping inside the x ring. I ran out of ammo but left the range with a real Big smile. This rifle is almost to pretty to shoot. My children all chipped in and purchased it for me for my fathers day. at first I. Was kind of relucent to shoot a extra delux rifle. But my kids stated that I he rifle was not to look at just use it. I did and have used it all of the time mostly at two and three hundred yards. Biggest problem with the sharps is trying NOT to scratch the extra delux finish. I love this rifle

If you received a damaged, defective, or incorrect item, Florida Guns will ship you a replacement of the exact item upon receipt of the damaged or defective item. Florida Guns will send you a return shipping label for the return.
What about return shipping costs?
If an Florida Guns error causes the need to return an item or we are replacing a returned defective or incorrect item, then we will pay the associated shipping costs.
Otherwise, the customer is responsible for any return shipping costs. When returning an item, please add package tracking and adequate insurance.
