Savage 10FCP LE 308

Posted by Hmntripod on Feb 11th 2020

I have had this gun for a while now and it is a tack driver. I shoot Sierra 175 Match King HPBT with Lapua brass and 44.5 gr of Varget and it hit 1000yds no problem. I also use a Leupold Mk 4 8.5-25×50 model 67990. You cannot go wrong with this setup.

With this gun who needs a custom rifle??

Posted by Parker on May 26th 2015

Ive had this rifle for 3 years and put 10,000 rounds down the pipe, it has been superbly accurate and reliable. I have won many club level PRS matches with it against people with much more expensive rigs. Ive shot a .006" group with it and it consistently holds .25" groups and 100 yds. It will routinely shoot 1" groups at 500 yards. I have a hard time finding loads that do not shoot great. Bedded the action but other than that it is factory. If you are considering buying this rifle do it and never look back! If you do your part it will shoot every bit as good as any high dollar custom out there and that is a fact. Impact guns has excellent customer service and so does Savage! DO IT, YOU OWE IT TO YOUR SELF!. "only accurate rifles are interesting" as far as loads i would start with 175gr smk with 41gr of rl-15, or 42gr varget or 42gr of H4895. If you want to get fancy try a 185berger hybrade .020 off the lands with 41gr of varget. I have many nice rifles but this is by far my favorite!!, Now savage offers a 10rd magazine that works with the factory bottom metal and your good to go. With quality glass and ammunition the savage 10fp Mcmillan will outshoot any other factory rifle i have ever seen.

I bought this gun a year or 2 ago and I can tell you it’s a tack driver. I wasn’t sure if I made the right choice at first but with the floated barrel and the accutrigger you can’t go wrong. I did take the time to break in the barrel (don’t really know if it made any difference) but am getting clover leaf groups at a hundred. Branched out to 500 and so far am happy with the testing. Still working up the perfect load but having great success with sierra 175gr hpbt. Wanting to get out to a thousand some day ( have to find right location). Great gun for old man like me who still likes to hunt but just a little to old to tramp all over the woods. I just set up with a little elevation (and if I don’t fall asleep)can cover quite an area. Will never be sorry I purchased this gun, it’s a keeper.
