Best affordable wide-grip 1911 I’m aware of

For those favoring the original 1911 chambering, .45 ACP, the RIA M1911A2 should be a primary consideration, unless one prefers the traditional grip or cheaper models. Comes in a plastic case with manual, locking cable, keys, magazine & empty [cartridge] cases. The recoil spring suits .45 ACP perfectly (if a recoil buffering system’s installed .45 Super will also suit this piece). The wide grip accommodates double-stack magazines & suits 2-handed shooting better than traditional grips (aim is steadier), in my opinion. Slightly heavier thanks to those double-stack magazines, it’s steady & promotes confidence. As a single-action pistol the trigger pull is short. The trigger could be improved (less twitchy) but it permits rapid-fire accuracy. A threaded barrel would be a nice future feature. RIA 1911s are the safest handguns I’ve handled (1911s have a grip safety in addition to a thumb safety, some also have a half-cock safety). Disassembly can be physically demanding until the pistol has been fired multiple times, after that it’s relatively easy to replace parts & clean the internals. The [bushing] barrel is Para/Clark ramped (from what I’ve read traditional 1911s have unramped barrels). Bushing barrels should promote precision, unlike bull barrels. Wish the rear sight was fixed, not just the front; the sights on these are frequently off out of the box. The magazines are the only major issue with this pistol; even when filled for months at a time they seem to hold 11-12 rounds, not 13.
