The Kimber legacy of offering the finest production firearms available today continues with the Solo, a new pistol that puts the power of the 9 mm cartridge in a micro-compact size usually reserved for smaller calibers. Power aside, what really sets the Solo apart is quality, dependability and 1911 ergonomics that ensure comfortable shootability regardless of hand size. This all comes together to put Solo performance in a class by itself.
With a barrel length of just 2.7 inches, Solo pistols are easy to carry and conceal. Many of the features borrowed from 1911 pistols also make them exceptionally safe. A manual ambidextrous thumb safety, checkered slide release and ambidextrous magazine release button enable fast and intuitive operation. Then there is the single action striker-fired trigger pull-even and smooth.
Solo frames are machined from the finest aluminum and finished in KimPro II, a premium finish that is self-lubricating and extremely resistant to salt and moisture. Slides and barrels are cut from stainless steel. Edges are rounded and blended, slide serrations are deep enough to really work and the dovetail-mounted 3-dot sights are quick to target. No other small pistol can compare.

Best Ultra compact 9mm

Best ultra compact 9mm on the market. The bad press is a result of the folks out there that can or won’t follow simple instructions regarding reassembly and ammo, then want to bash the pistol on the forums. Want a Chevy, buy a chevy. Want a Porsche feed it the premium fuel it demands and deserves.

Shot New Solo for the first time

225 rounds through the new Solo today. First 25 47gr Defense Ammo. Followed by four boxes of 115gr White box ball ammo.
Not one malfunction.
After all the bad press I was reading I was concerned… Not so much anymore, I like it!

I got mine in Sept. 2011.
Worth the wait, and it is small! Magazine pictures make it look large.
No issues at all. Just shoot 124gr and up in size ammo, and it loves high grain JHP ammo. 115gr, not recommended by mfg, and forget using junk 9mm ammo. This is a sports car.
My is Silver and Black frame. 17 OZ weight, you forget you are carrying. Tight tolerances and very accurate. Aluminum alloy frame and Stainless steel slide. Slide lock back on last shot and has a manual safety, if you want to use.
Feed it the good ammo and enjoy.
Another advantage is you can install custom wood grips (just like the 1911 models) and add a bit of personalized statement. SGM Grips.com has a fine selection of SOLO grips, and 1911 grips.
Just be patient, demand is high for SOLO’s!

Don’t believe the bad press

Don’t believe the bad press about this gun and issues with reliability. Sure I had to follow a break in period which was more like 50 rounds than 24 or whatever is suggested. With good ammo this gun feeds flawlessly. I adore this gun, I carry 24/7 for work and play and this gun is up to the task. I have shot Speer Gold Dot, and Federal HSP for quality ammo as well as $9 / box American Eagle with no problems. The Solo also fed +P and loved it. The size is fantastic and the fit and finish outstanding. I selected this gun for the safety and the butter smooth trigger pull.
