NRA Instructor carries and endorses Bersa .380

Posted by Mike K on Jan 6th 2014

As an instructor I recommend the Bersa .380 Thunder Plus for 1st time gun buyers that attend my class. Great conceal gun for the price.I won’t endorse any gun that I myself don’t carry.

Love it

Posted by GrouchyJohn on May 13th 2013

I took a "low light, no light tactical shooting class". Put 400 rounds thru my Bersa Thunder 380 Plus in under 4 hours. I had one jam, 300+ rounds into the shoot. As per instructors requirements, all shooting stopped, he took the weapon, looked at it for about 3 seconds, pulled back the slide and popped the round out, handed the weapon back to me and said it needed oil. I did not disassemble it, just put several drops on the slide and extractor. Finished the shoot with no further problems. The Bersa was really dirty at cleaning time, but other than the oil problem it had done a fine job. That one jam was the only problem I had with it that day, and it was likely my fault not the firearms.

There were other big brand name guns there, some of them had problems also. 400 rounds in 4 hours is a significant number of rounds to be shooting in a short period and the Thunder Plus did as well and better than any other weapon there.

BTW, we were shooting at distances 6 to 75 feet at 4 inch targets. Even at those distances, shooting as we moved left, right, angles, forwards and backwards, laying down, sitting, all kinds of positions, using flashlights and strobe lights, left handed as well as right, the Bersa hit with a surprising high percentage of accuracy… not my words, but the instructor’s. That may mean I’m a decent shot, but I have to credit the Bersa with being a fine and easy to shoot firearm for a good percentage of it.

Reliable

Posted by Wop on Dec 20th 2012

Probably the most reliable .380 ACP out there. Great in size and wait for daily carry. Durable quality. However, keep in mind that a lot of practice may be necessary on this pistol. Its lighter in weight which gives it a tad bit of a strong recoil feedback, this makes your aiming a little harder than you may be used to with heavier, bigger, or higher caliber pistols. Sometimes I get a double feed jam because of the slide catch not releasing a shell as fast as I want it to during rapid fire. I think it may just be due to the ammo I was using which was a flathead winchester. I used round head Federals and can’t recall getting that problem then.Thats the only time it has jammed on me, but it may have been just that. Otherwise, it looks like a great gun, feels like a great gun, performs like a great gun. Plenty of holsters to choose from for this model. Unfortunately, you may not find any alternative grips or other accessories for this model due to its girth. But it holds 15+1 as opposed to its smaller models which hold no more than 7… that makes up for the loss of choice in accessories!

" Better Than the Walther ppk"

Posted by sportfishing on Nov 11th 2012

The Bersa 380 plus is overall better than the ppk based on price, quality and clip (15) round capacity. the ppk has (7) rounds and when your life depends on the extra rounds without changing the clip, you can’t put a price on your life !

First handgun

Posted by MP on Dec 29th 2011

By far the first time I held this gun I knew. The feel of the gun in your hand was great, not only a 380 that holds 16 with one chambered….nice 🙂 Well the first time I shot it the bersa had great function all around and was very accurate. I say for a first time shooter or younger shooter even a carry piece all depends. Great gun over all and it has a look of a Walter awesome.

Good buy for the money

Posted by C on Mar 19th 2011

It shoots well,

I’ve owned for about a year and had only a small problem with it.

The rear site worked itself loose while firing and i couldn’t find it.

There’s only one importer of Bersas in the US so…service is kind of slow, but the staff is very friendly.

Other than that, I’ve shot probably ~1500 rounds through it with 2 stove pipes and 1 failure to fire. So pretty reliable.

We bought a Berson .380 five three years ago. This gun has performed at 100% with no hiccups at all. Will shoot WWB and Speer Gold Dots all day. My wife loves to shoot this little gem as do I.
