Nice gun, but not for war out of the box
Posted by Newt on Apr 23rd 2013
I purchased this gun last month 3/2013 and it was exactly what I expected. I read the bad reviews online about the gun and mis-feeds, failure to ejects, magazine fit issues, etc.. I still had to have one since I have an original WWII carbine and wanted the "new" version to play with. I was prepared with a couple GI 30 rnd. mags and a couple of GI 15 rnd. mags loaded up for the range. The stock mag that came with it was awful- could not get three shots down range without the mag mis-feeding or failing in some way. It barely seats in the gun even with a little fight. My GI 15 round mags were not much better, but I at least could get through a full mag without fixing something. The GI 30 rnd. mags both functioned flawlessly. The gun even seemed to sound better with them… 100 rnds. later, I put the factory mag back in and got two shots off before a jam… in the trash the factory mag goes… So read the reviews, get the gun, but make sure you have a couple of GI mags from the old days to use when you are sending lead down range. If you only have the original, you will only enjoy looking at the gun as it hangs on your wall. By the way, it is a great gun, seems accurate enough, and a must-have. It is a Saginaw design, so it has features like the original WWII carbine if I have my history right (flip sight, no bayonet lug, etc.). Maybe the 10 rnd mag is better… I don’t know, don’t have one of those.

Excellent Rifle
Posted by Blondie on Dec 4th 2010
This rifle is a very underestimated rifle. We took my rifle and painted the stock all black added a homemade compensator wirh a red dot and it out perfomes the state troopers rifles here in vt so I would say a excellent Rifle.

Decent substitute for a GI m-1 carbine
Posted by Mark on Nov 14th 2010
All GI parts don’t fit the Auto-Ordinance, but magazines do.
This is a decent substitute for a GI M-1 carbine, which is much harder to get these days. And the .30 cal carbine is a useful but often-ignored cartridge.
I like mine and shoot it regularly.
